Abstract:
Peculiar metacrystals of platinoan vysotskite with inverse zoning are described. Their size is up to 0.5 mm. These metacrystals are characterized by “paracrystalline microboudinage” structure, specifically, corroded vysotskite fragments of the 1st generation (Pd0.51Pt0.27Ni0.20Fe0.02)S and 2nd generation (Pd0.49Pt0.30Ni0.18Fe0.03)S; square vysotskite microcrystals of the 3rd generation (Pd0.47Pt0.32Ni0.19Fe0.02)S overgrowned with vysotskite of the 4th generation (Pd0.45Pt0.33Ni0.19-0.21Fe0.01)S; vysotskite of the 5th generation (Pd0.45Pt0.35Ni0.18Fe0.02)S with both vysotskite bands of the 6th generation (Pd0.43Pt0.37-0.38Ni0.16-0.17Fe0.02)S and the most platinic vysotskite of the 7th generation (Pd0.44Pt0.43Ni0.09Fe0.02Ru0.01)S grows on these formations. Platinoan vysotskite metacrystals are surrounded by the wide band of skeletal cooperite microcrystals (Pt0.96-0.97Ni0-0.03Ru0.01)S. Platinoan vysotskite and cooperite are developed in low-grade metamorphosed Co-Ni-Cu sulphide ores of the Oktyabrskoye deposit within the Norilsk ore field, where these minerals replace ferrous chlorite and corrensite, hydrogrossular, chalcopyrite, pentlandite, cubanite, and fassaite.
